This is one very useful and lovely agave making impenetrable spreading colonies of shiny dark green foliage less than a foot high with cheerful pale green stripes and dark spines. Yes the spines are part of why its pretty - don't be a sissy - its not worse than owning a cat. I grow this one on a slope with stones and it hugs up close to them like hens-and-chicks. Its very hardy and also so good in a pot.
